Getting Your Sh*t Together, After a Hiatus

It is now 2020 and everyone seems to be on the “20/20 vision.” People are feeling motivated and ready since it’s a new year and we’re going after what’s ours. I’ve been away from my brand, my site, my designs, for 10 weeks now and I feel a bit bad but it was necessary. I can’t deliver my best work when I am not in tuned with myself and that’s why I think it’s important to talk about these things.

Life happens but you don’t have to let it dictate how you end up. We’ve all been there where we say “I’m gonna get my shit together,” only to then 2 weeks later fall back to the same old trap. This doesn’t mean we’re lazy people but we’re trying and it’s a process. Things won’t happen overnight and for others it does and that’s only because the desire is so strong they’ve decided to do this no matter what.

We’re hard on ourselves when we stop being consistent which just causes us to stop all together. It’s fine to stop if you need time, but always knowing that you will be back and coming back stronger is always the key. When I first launched my site, there were a lot of things I didn’t take into consideration. I just wanted to put something out, to spark some life into it. Now that I’ve been through the mud it feels like from my life, I’ve learned so much and I’m more prepared this time around than I was before. I’m now ready to provide my talents to others and make a difference.

For those of you who always seem stuck or feel like you’re not getting enough done, try these tips below to help you stay on track to your goals.

  • Write out your goals - We might think we know what we want but write it out, look at it, and read it out loud daily if you can. Put it somewhere you can see it and know why you’re doing what you’re doing every day.

  • Create affirmations that align with your goals - This is something I’ve been trying out this year and it’s writing affirmations that help you stay focused on your goals. For example, if your goal is to save a certain amount of money then maybe your affirmation would be “Money flows to me easily and effortlessly.”

  • Map out a plan - One of the most crucial steps is planning out how you’re going to get to your goals. Break it down to different steps depending if it’s something to do daily, weekly, monthly. Also have a DUE date, put yourself accountable to WHEN you’re going to complete this. It makes it more likely for you to reach them!

  • Do a top 3 - Another technique i’ve decided to implement this year and it’s basically choosing 3 things to do that are a priority for the day. This also should be things that align to your goals. Ask yourself, “What are 3 things I can do today so I’m closer to my goals"?” Sometimes we can’t do all 3 or let alone 1 but it’s a focus point for the day. Do what you can.

  • Meditate - I will forever preach this. Meditate, quiet your mind from your everyday life. Even if it’s 5 minutes it makes a difference.

  • Move your body - When your body gets the movement it needs your head is clearer and it makes you feel great. You don’t have to go to the gym but take a walk or do some Zumba there’s no limit on how you can do it.

Try these out and if you already do good for you! Share it with others, so we can be great all 2020!
